After graduating from Medical Training College, Clinical Officers are required to undergo a mandatory one-year internship aimed at providing them with clinical mentorship as well as sharpening their clinical acumen. This internship training is offered in selected Government and faith-based hospitals, which have been assessed, approved and accredited by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board and the Ministry of Health. Only upon successful completion of this internship will they be registered by the Clinical Officers Council.
St Mary’s Mission Hospital is an accredited CO internship centre. We offer our interns a unique and exciting opportunity to gain experience in the multi-disciplinary approach to patient care while applying the most current evidence-based patient management protocols.
We run a comprehensive program that gives our interns the opportunity to rotate through the disciplines of Surgery, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynaecology and specialist clinics like Dental Surgery and Ophthalmology. We have experienced medical specialists in all these different fields who offer the clinical supervision round the clock.
Interns who have gone through our program have gone on to find employment with us, with other private and public hospitals, and with local and international NGOs.
